How Efficient EV Chargers Are Going to Change the Landscape of the Energy Sector

In today’s world emissions from power plants and industries are damaging the environment worldwide. The toxic pollution is not only harming the atmosphere but also the diverse species that we co-exist with. Continuous usage of natural resources and fossils fuels is exhausting the storage and we are projected to run out of the natural resources in a few decades. Companies focusing on renewable energy have gambled their money for the long run for high returns. Renewable energy is the future and its usage as a source of energy is already in the implementation phase.

In the United States, the vehicles account for 30% of the total energy consumption which will create a toxic environment for the generations to come. Renewable energy sources can help protect the environment from getting damaged beyond repair.

Electric cars are the progressive step towards reducing pollution and preserving what’s left of our environment. There exists a lot of factors for better distribution and production of electric cars, but the most important aspect being the productions and distribution of efficient low energy EV chargers. Today, implementation of EV chargers are based on basic concepts which have a lot of room for improvement.

The inconsistency of the current renewable sources of energy doesn’t make it compatible with the current system in place thus making proper integration impossible. The issue leads to putting a threshold to the output produced from the renewable energy sources. Such a threshold substantially increases the price of implementing the infrastructure for the generation of energy from renewable sources thus slowing down the rate of adoption in the society.

Let us elaborate on the workings of the EV charger. Basically, it has three levels of charging that denotes the energy levels in the ascending order.

Level 1 is the slowest form of charging in existence and can take a whole day to fully charge the electric car, Level 2 charging is the most popular and sought-after method of charging as it allows fast charging, diverse add-ons and a bunch of user-friendly features for the convenience of the electric car owners. Level 3 charging is the fastest method of charging an electric vehicle but the cost overhead of the infrastructure requirements is high thus not used by most of the EV owners.

We can see here that the package comes with a mounting platform, a standard 240v plug, and an enclosure for outdoor use. The LED lights present in the charger also indicate the current status of the charger and yes, they come with Wi-Fi connectivity. Though we are at the beginning of developing advanced low-energy EV chargers, companies are funding their R&D for developing futuristic chargers for the sake of our precious environment.

A typical EV charger ranges between 40-80 amps of current which last for quite some time and require no replacement according to the current stats. Electric vehicle companies focus on building long-lasting and efficient Level 2 chargers with diverse control features form a smartphone application. Apps are designed to monitor the health and status of the EV charger. Mostly, the Level 2 EV chargers are green code compliant causing no damage to the environment.
